- SynopsisBavaria, 1910. On their honeymoon trip, young English couple Gerald and Marianne Harcourt run out of petrol on a forest road and are forced to stay at a semi-derelict hotel. They receive an invitation to dine at the nearby castle, with Dr Ravna and his children, one of whom entrances Marianne with his piano playing. Dr Ravna offers to send for petrol for them from 30 miles away, which prolongs the Harcourts' stay till Sunday. On the Saturday night, the Harcourts attend a masked ball at the castle, where Ravna abducts Marianne and bites her neck, turning her into one of his vampire cult members. Gerald is drugged and the next morning everyone denies he ever had a wife. Fortunately, he finds an ally in the hotel's one other guest, Professor Zimmer, whose daughter was taken by Ravna, and who is working on a formula to destroy the vampires. Gerald and Zimmer raid the castle and despite many setbacks, manage to rescue and cure Marianne, shortly before Zimmer's formula results in a vast number of vampire bats flying into the castle and destroying the other vampires.
